Manuel de Queiroz
Nasceu no Porto, em 1948.
Diplomado em Arquitectura pela ESBAL em 1976, exerceu a sua actividade profissional primeiro em regime de profissão liberal e depois no âmbito de uma empresa de arquitectura de que foi sócio-gerente.
Na área do planeamento urbano e do desenho urbano foi autor/coordenador de numerosos estudos como o Plano de Urbanização de Arouca (1985) e o Plano de Pormenor da Zona Central de Arouca, Plano de Pormenor do Vale da Rosa II em Setúbal, etc.
Na área da arquitectura foi também autor de grande número de projectos, entre os quais se destacam o Centro Cultural de Lagos, o Herbário do Instituto Superior de Agronomia de Lisboa, a Residência da Encarnação da AEIPS, em Lisboa, os Paços do Concelho de Vieira do Minho ou o Palácio de Justiça de Arouca, por cujo projecto recebeu em 1997 o prémio “A Pedra na Arquitectura”.
É, desde 1987, arquitecto-consultor da Direcção Geral do Livro dos Arquivos e das Bibliotecas (DGLAB) para Rede Nacional de Bibliotecas públicas e para os arquivos.
Entre 1982 e 2002 teve participação activa em vários órgãos directivos da Associação dos Arquitectos Portugueses/Ordem dos Arquitectos.
Entre 1997 e 2001 foi membro eleito da Direcção Executiva do Conselho dos Arquitectos da Europa (CAE).

Graduated in Architecture from ESBAL in 1976, he initially worked independently and later within an architecture firm of which he was a managing partner.
In the field of urban planning and urban design, he was author/coordinator of numerous studies such as the Arouca Urbanization Plan (1985) and the Detailed Plan of the Central Area of Arouca, Detailed Plan of Vale da Rosa II in Setúbal, etc.
In the field of architecture, he was also the author of a large number of projects, among which stand out the Lagos Cultural Centre, the Herbarium of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia de Lisboa, the Encarnação Residence of AEIPS in Lisbon, the Town Hall of Vieira do Minho, and the Arouca Courthouse, for which project he received the “A Pedra na Arquitectura” award in 1997.
Since 1987, he has been a consulting architect for the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB) for the National Network of Public Libraries and for archives. Between 1982 and 2002, he was actively involved in several governing bodies of the Portuguese Association of Architects/Order of Architects. Between 1997 and 2001, he was an elected member of the Executive Board of the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE).
